Question by Lorri R: What type of mini macaw has been best in your experience?
I am looking to buy a mini macaw because i found this one severe macaw that loves me, but he is not for sale. What type of mini macaw has been the best experience for you sweetness wise.
Best answer:
Answer by Birdman
I have a Yellow Collared Macaw, which is a little smaller than the severe. She was my first parrot. Very affectionate, very playful, full of personality. Very nice bird, but kind of loud. My favorite mini is the Hahn’s Macaw. They are the smallest of the minis. Never met one I didn’t like-very sweet birds. If I didn’t already have my Yellow Collared, I’d get a Hahn’s.

Question by dley00: How can I tell what kind of bird is making a nest in our bird house?
There were two this morning. One was sitting on top (more or less supervising) It had some blue on its head and a prominent white belly. Another was in and out of the house and was darker in color with no really special markings.
The bird house is suppose to be for blue birds but last year something else took up home there also.

Question by Pauline: What is a good food for small birds in my birdfeeder?
I would like to attract more finches and small birds and less Starlings and big birds.
Best answer:
Answer by ms bell
Thistle seeds, niger seeds, and canary seed are all excellent for small birds like finches. They will also eat suet and fruit. Black oil sunflower seeds are a favorite of many birds and will attract finches, but will attract the bigger birds, too. Also, make sure you have a water source nearby so that the finches can bathe or drink. Finches like to eat from tube feeders, sock feeders, and hopper feeders. You should be seeing more finches and smaller birds soon.

Question by Jacob: Why is my African Grey Parrot being aggressive?
I work for a museum with live exhibits, one featuring an African Grey parrot. The parrot came from a home where it was abused by a young boy, and as a result this bird has always been semi-aggressive toward men. In the last few days, the parrot has been more mean and dangerous, and for the first time in almost ten years, he is snapping at women. I can’t think what would suddenly affect this change in him. Is there something I can do to help the bird become more comfortable and less… bitey?
Best answer:
Answer by Errol Tello
i would allow them to feed him….bt in doing that you would have to limit his food so he would eat from them……he will become more trusing

This Collared Dove has been hanging out in my neighbour’s front garden with it’s mate and I think she’s now gone off to nest as he’s been on his own for a few days.
I’m really pleased he’s confident enough to come in and feed. I’m really hoping to get some smaller birds in too, here’s hoping.

Question by Dayor Knight: How can I use leftover gravy to feed the birds?
I have left over gravy from certain meals. Is there a way i can reuse it in my birdfeeder. Can I put in in a dish? will the birds ‘drink’ it?
Does the high salt content refer to sparrows also. Even though I try to deter sparrows, they seem to eat everything.
Best answer:
Answer by Donald L
-Gravy for birds? The fat in it might actually be good for them. You could try to put it in a flat dish and see what happens. You’ll probably have more bugs than birds in the dish though!

Is there a way to see how they’ll interact beforehand or would it be easier to get another cat?
