Bird Cages Is there anything that connects two bird cages together?

Question by Ella MoonFrillia: Is there anything that connects two bird cages together?
Is there anything that connects 2 bird cages together side by side so you can move them both at once? Or are there any materials that you can make something out of at home? Thanks for any answers.

Best answer:

Answer by Hello
As long as the cages aren’t TOO big, twist ties work or any other wire. It is only good up to a point. You might want to consider a breeder cage that has a divider in the middle.

Best answer:

Answer by Jusme
Get him a girl. He will love you for it. You might be out of the picture, but you might learn a different side to your parrot behavior.

I think that people who want to get companions for their parrot should always get the opposite sex. :) It is good to have a real pair of parrots.

Blue Jay Bird Q&A: Consider a population composed of 25 blue jays. What is a quantitative feature of this population?

Question by jayson: Consider a population composed of 25 blue jays. What is a quantitative feature of this population?
Consider a population composed of 25 blue jays. What is a quantitative feature of this population?

a)blue is the color of the birds
b)the type of bird is a blue jay
c)the population size of 25
d)all of the above

Best answer:

Answer by Integrase
The answer is c). A quantitative feature is one that can be measured. The other features are qualitative, or describe values that are not measured. A way to change b) for example into a quantitative feature would be to specify the wavelength of blue that the blue jay’s color was.

Fossilized DoDo bird at the Brighton Museum.

From wikipedia:

The dodo has been extinct since the mid-to-late 17th century.[1] It is commonly used as the archetype of an extinct species because its extinction occurred during recorded human history, and was directly attributable to human activity.

The phrase "dead as a dodo" means undoubtedly and unquestionably dead, whilst the phrase "to go the way of the dodo" means to become extinct or obsolete, to fall out of common usage or practice, or to become a thing of the past.

From the Brighton Museum card:

B. DODO CASTS c1800
Willett collected natural history specimens throughout his life and was a long-serving member of the Brighton Museum (as distinct from the Fine Art) Committee. These pieces are plaster casts of the head and foot of one of the last Dodos from Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. These friendly, flightless birds, called duodo (stupid) by the Portuguese, were extinct by 1681.

All About Birds How can I turn a story about back yard birds into something more interesting?

Question by ghost: How can I turn a story about back yard birds into something more interesting?
I love birds, but my teacher wants something more interesting. The topic will still be back yard birds, and it has to be informational, and not persuasive. Any ideas?
That would be a good idea if it wasn’t supposed to be informational.

Best answer:

Answer by madmother15
Be a bird. Tell a story from the bird’s eye view. No pun intended. I think that would be more interesting than just an essay about what birds you have in your back yard. Do some research, what birds do you have, what do they like to eat, how do they interact with other birds that visit etc.

Parrots how do i find out the sex of a pair of Quaker parrots?

Question by Big White Woman: how do i find out the sex of a pair of Quaker parrots?
Four days ago I adopted/inherited three quaker parrots. I think they are less than a year old. Their previous owner barely interacted with them therefore they are very nervous around people. I would like to know how to tell if they are male or female with out having to take them to the pet shop or getting a blood test. Also i want get some ideas/input on how to go about training them and integrating them to their new family. I have taken care of many animals, but am not familiar with birds in general, such as behavior, training, diet, growth and development rate. I have an idea of their general lifespan but thats about it.

Please Help! Any input will be greatly appreciated by both myself and my new family members.

Flightless Birds How do i assert dominance over my bird?

Question by mickeymousears: How do i assert dominance over my bird?
I have a 6 year old cockatiel, who likes to gently bite. its more of a beak bumb/fake bite. In any case I see it as an aggressive act that i would like to curb.
I have tried everything I can think of: words, laddering, ignoring, “time outs”, etc.
When I scratch his head, he will “bite” then he begs for his head scratched again; this has been going on ever since he was a baby. In the last few years he has been “biting” more often.

BTW, he is a flightless bird (I know the first answer will be “clip his wings”)
Okay… i am not getting another bird…
and his actions are not attempts to groom me. They are attempts to dominate me… yes, he is showing me who is boss, and its him. I am HIS person. He bites anytime he is unhappy-basically throwing tempertantrums. and he has drawn blood, when defending his territory. sooo… i know WHY he bites… im wondering how to stop the biting! Like i said, I have tried everything i can think of… I need to show him I am the boss-and he isnt getting the message. oh, and on top of the techniques i mentioned before, he also has a very strict sleeping schedule (12 hours a night).
oh, and the only time he is alone is when we are working… otherwise he has free reign over the house, but he never strays more than 5 feet away from me.
Its funny that people feel like they know everything about you and your life from 2 paragraphs over the internet.
I dont need advice on getting a new bird, or if i should ever own a parrot (which by the way, i have!)
I simply want a few tips on how to stop a habit of biting.
Yes, I am aware that sometimes this behavior will display itself when he is grouchy or if i hit a pin feather… obviously, if that was the problem then i would KNOW how to fix it. Those arent the bites i am talking about!
stop leaving self righteous lectures-if you dont know of any tips then move on!
Just because you are a backyard bird breeder, doesnt mean you have the last say in bird behaviorism.
okay okay… forget i said about the head scratches… I am least worried about those “bites”.

I would like to know is what to do when my bird aggressivly bites – when he is being territorial (which i know is hormonal) or for any other reason. of course, I am not going to bonk him on the head- or bite him back *roll eyes*. I have tried laddering, and all the other techniques mentioned in the original question. does ANYONE have another suggestion?

Best answer:

Answer by tkwizard2004
everytime he bits you, grab his tounge, hell learn, if not, flick him on his head. just enough pain for him to say ow (if he cants say ow, hit him harder, hell say it
