Question by Brooke: killdeer bird egg!!!!! help?
okay i know its aginst the law to do this but i found a nest all the eggs but 2 smashed up no parents in sight i waited 20 minits hidden. i want to try raising them into adult birds. i know as soon as they are born and dry off they are ready to eat. but while there in the egg form how many times to i rotate the egg and how often??

Go to www.allaboutbirds.org to ask your question. It is the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and they will have an answer for you I feel sure. It takes an expert to hatch the eggs; to keep them at the correct temp and humidity. Baby killdeer are absolutely starving all the time! you would think the little bird is an elephant, he has such a humungous appetite. I applaud you for your concern and empathy, and best of luck to you. I have tried to raise birds many times; some success, some not.
