Question by Sammi: How long does it take for a newborn cockatiel to grow feathers?
I have two ADULT cockatiels (a female and a male) and the female layed eggs a while ago. (She always lays eggs once in a while but the eggs never hatched– this is the second time the eggs hatched.) She layed it in a box we have in the cage, so we can’t really see the birds (there’s 2) since the parents go in there to feed them. I’ve heard them chirp for about 2 weeks (They were born around the end of March) and I just want to know how long it takes for them to grow feathers.. along with another question out of curiousity; how long does it take for them to have the ability to fly.. or what is a good time (how many months/years does the birds have to be) for a baby bird to be able to get out of the cage.. are they just going to get out of the box when they can? Any information would help.. thanks for reading this, tried to make it short.. (:

I’m not a sure about this species but birds unlike flightless mammals grow up quicker so I reckon about 6-12 weeks I may be wrong because that’s how long it took my baby doves to fly
