Question by El Nerdo Loco: How do birds avoid thorns in bushes and trees?
My yard is always full of birds. Mostly doves and finches. The only foliage for them to roost in however are boganvias, a lemon tree, and an orange tree. All plants I dare not handle without gloves. The boganvias are especially well covered with thorns. Yet it is rare I find any dead birds under these plants. I am hoping someone knows how these creatures avoid becoming bird kabobs.

They have excellent eyesight and flight control. If you have ever seen a bird fly through a hole in a chain-linked fence without its wings hitting any part of the fence, you will realize how good their eyesight is and how well they can judge and control the position of their body as they fold their wings so that they can fit in the opening.
