Question by Its a squatch: Im looking to purchase a bird of prey?
Ive always wanted a hawk or some bird like it. I understand that you need license and all but does anyone know any birds of prey that dont require any federal licenses? If not how would I purchase a hawk?
Im willing to spend the time and care. Will they be extremley pricy? Like more then 500 a year?

I see where your coming from, many people want something as a pet such as a hawk, eagle, falcon or owl. But please, don’t. They are extremely hard to find, hard to care for, but that is not the main problem. They are wild animals, have always been wild, and will always be left in the wild, where they belong and where they are best. Keeping one as a pet would be abandoning their freedom, which is cruel. Please, if your wanting to get a pet bird, check out domestic birds such as parrots. Otherwise, move on. Because birds of prey are meant to be left in the wild.
