Question by crazyride6: How do Australian social practices relate to the book The Thorn Birds?
I am doing a culture project in English class and I can’t figure out how australian social practices and artwork show up in the book. I’ve read the book and watched the movie, but I can’t seem to come up with anything

Look at Maggie’s life, not through the lens of her romantic relationships, but more from a general point of view of where did she (and her family) move… and why? Look at the whole ranch life that she lived through… or you could probably touch a bit on the penal system & army… What about her life after she got married to that jerk? Think about the type of work he had to do and the fact that she had to live as a boarder in somebody else’s house… Also, the role of the church and faith is obviously a big part in the book.
I’m sorry if I’m being overly vague… I love the book, but I haven’t read it in a while… Oh wait, here, I found a site that might be helpful… Hmmm… Oh yes, gender inequalities is also something you could discuss.
Anyways, good luck!
