Bird Feeding Can you sprout sunflowers from bird seed?

Question by : Can you sprout sunflowers from bird seed?
I bought a big bag of Scott’s black oil sunflower seeds for bird feeding. It says on the bag “not for human consumption”. I do not plan to eat them, I would like to plant them in my garden. Does anyone know if this brand of seed will start or not?

i do not think so, i believe that they treat the seeds to be more nutritious for the birds, but no harm in trying.
