66/365: Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata)

A few nice blue jay bird images I found:

66/365: Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata)

After yesterday’s heavy six inches of snow (from the Snowquester storm), many thousands of folks were without power in Fauquier. The local birds took advantage of the seed I had placed outside when the snow stopped. Among the dozen or so species at the feeders today, a gang of Blue Jays, far more skittish than one would imagine, flitted from the bent cedars to the flat trays.

Cockatiel How should I make a house for my cockatiel?

Question by Bianca: How should I make a house for my cockatiel?
I just bought my cockatiel a dramatically larger cage, so I figured I could make him a little cubby house for in there. How should I make it? How big should it be? I was thinking something like some kind of box .. I don’t really know. It’s hard to figure out what size it should be, with his tail and stuff.

Valdés: coast & birds’ isle

"The Valdes Peninsula (Spanish Península Valdés) is a peninsula along the Atlantic coast in the Viedma Department in the north east of Chubut Province, Argentina. Its size is about 3,625 km². The nearest large town is Puerto Madryn.
It is an important nature reserve which was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. The coastline is inhabited by marine mammals, like sea lions, elephant seals and fur seals. Southern right whales can be found in Golfo Nuevo and Golfo San José, protected bodies of water located between the peninsula and the Patagonian mainland. These baleen whales come here between May and December, for mating and giving birth, because the water in the gulf is quieter and warmer than in the open sea. Orcas can be found off the coast, in the open sea off the peninsula. In this area, they are known to beach themselves on shore to capture sea lions and elephant seals." At the entrance of the Peninsula on one of the gulfs there´s the Birds’ Island. It is one of the main reroductive sites for sea birds. It is not allowed to go to the island (can walk during low tide) but there´s a view point with a telescope that allow visitors to get closer to the special habitat.
