Thistle Bird Feeder Moving soon, what type of bird feeder?

Question by Ashley: Moving soon, what type of bird feeder?
I’m moving to northern Iowa in August and I finally have a back yard to look forward to. I want to get a bird feeder or two but I can’t seem to find a good site for birds. I’m not sure what kinds are up there. Know of any good sites? Or live there and can tell me what species are there? Thanks!

I live in the Midwest and have found some good websites on Iowa birds:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_birds_of_Iowa

http://www.iowabirds.org/birds/Iowa-Checklist.asp

http://www.birdingguide.com/bird_list/iowa.html

Also, here are some great books on Iowa birds:

The Eastern Goldfinch is Iowa’s state bird and very pretty. You can attract them to your yard with a hanging tube feeder filled with thistle or sunflower seeds. You’ll also enjoy seeing cardinals, bluejays, black-capped chickadees, sparrows, house wrens, bluebirds, and more.
