Parrot Pictures Should i separate blood parrots from other fish before eggs hatched?

Question by Ammar: Should i separate blood parrots from other fish before eggs hatched?
hi guys,

i have 4 parrots, 2 of 10 CM Cichlid 2 Blue aqara and 4 yellow Murphy’s in 70 gallons Tank.
i have noticed that the parrot laid eggs and eggs are sticking on the decoration and some on the gravel, however they are protecting them from other fish.
now my worry is if the fry will be eaten by other fish after the eggs hatched.

Which of these two photos does your “parrot” cichlid look like?
Picture one: A parrot cichlid: http://www.geocities.com/parrotcichlid/images/parrot/real_parrot_cichlid.jpg
Picture two: The “blood parrot” cichlid: http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/img/bloodparrot7.jpg

If your fish looks like the first image, then you can learn how to care for your eggs here: http://www.aqua-fish.net/show.php?h=parrotcichlid
If your fish looks like the second image, then in most cases the eggs are infertile. In rare instances, some people have reported that the eggs are fertile. If your eggs do hatch, then watch the parents carefully. If they eat the first batch then it it prudent to remove the second batch of eggs to a spawning tank. But most cichlids are good parents, and you don’t have to do any special separation of parents or fry.
