Question by Michelle: Help identifying a bird species?
I saw a bird today that had a black and white striped neck, a very high pitched call, and a distinct brown pattern on its tail that it can puff up when its angry. It’s eggs are also spotted black if that helps and it’s in new jersey. I spotted a few of them in the forest and they were an average-small size. What kind of bird is it?
