Question by Coralie T: Why won’t the birds come to my feeders?
We live in the countryside in Louisiana and have plenty of birds around, cardinals, finches, mockingbirds, chickadees, and currently have a dry suet feeder in the front yard hanging from a sycamore, a suet and berry feeder under a large magnolia tree, and a duel feeder in the back hanging from a sycamore that has sunflower seed in one side and small finch seed in the other.
I have no seen one single bird eating from any of these feeders in over 6 weeks (seed has been replaced numerous times in this period)
But there are birds all over! At any one time looking around our property we can spot 10 different birds.
Anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be? We don’t have cats, no dog, plenty of shade and coverage.

Many wild birds prefer a platform type feeder over the hanging type. Also, black-oil sunflower seeds will attract most song birds. So will sunflower seeds or a general wild bird seed mix. You can also put out some fruit for the birds to eat. Some favorites are oranges, grapes, apples, and bananas. Some will also eat raisins. Make sure to put out a bird bath near your food source. Wild birds love to bathe and drink the water. Hope the birds start eating from your feeders soon.
