Question by soccer star: I live in El Paso Texas, the desert southwest. Can you help me identify a bird I am seeing in my backyard?
This bird is about the size of a mockingbird. It is a dusty brown or even gray all over. Long, sharp beak and yellow eyes. It digs for grubs in my backyard. (I can even see that it listens, with its head cocked to one side, before it digs!) It usually comes up with some bug. Any help out there?
