Question by ….: How does the book To kill a mocking bird relate to history? ?
I need 10 important facts about the historical context behind the novel. Please don’t tell me its a good book I already know that.

Well, one of the things is it is centered on the view people had of blacks and mentally/medically retarded people in that time in history.
Women and blacks still didn’t have too much say, especially in the south.
Society’s rules and morals were very strict.
Prejudices were strong, and often ruled the way people reacted.
One of the main points of the book is just because someone is different, it doesn’t mean they are harmful. Just like Boo Radley and the black man [forgot his name]. They were as harmless as mocking birds.
Sorry if I’m pretty much stating the obvious. I read this two years ago, my freshman year [wow, I'm already a junior! heh.] so this is what I can remember about historical context and such.
