Well, I can’t think of any MOVIES off hand, but I do know an older TV show – There was an episode of the 1986 TV show “Starman” (starring Robert Hays and C.D. Barnes) called “Peregrine”, where Starman and his son find an injured peregrine falcon and bring it to the vet. The vet’s husband works for a government captive breeding program for endangered birds. They also take the birds’ eggs from the nests and hatch them there, to protect them from the effects of DDT, which weakens the eggshells.
He takes the bird against the vet’s will, and at first Starman is shocked, but after hearing both sides of the story, realizes the man was doing what was best for the bird under the circumstances. After the falcon’s wing is healed, Starman releases him.

The “Starman” TV show from 1986 is based on the 1984 movie.
