Hairy and Downy Woodpecker’s

I finally got a shot of the 2 of these lookalike woodpeckers in the same frame.

The one you can barely see is a Hairy Woodpecker. The smaller one is a Downy Woodpecker. They look exactly the same. The only difference I have seen is that the Hairy is twice as big as the Downy.

I have a ton of shots of the smaller Downy Woodpecker, but not too many of the bigger Hairy Woodpecker. They’re so skittish that if they even sense any movement from me it flies off.

The suet cage is hanging from a tree in my backyard by a thin cable. When I got this shot the cage was slowly spinning, but the Hairy sensed me and was gone before I could get a better shot of him.
