“The National Geographic Field Guide to the Birds of North America, Fifth Edition”, by Jon L. Dunn and Jonathan Alderfer is one of the best and newest ones on the market. It has every species known of North American birds, with photos, range maps, and a quick-find index. This is the one book you’ll want to help you identify birds.
“Kaufman Field Guide to Birds of North America”, by Kenn Kaufman, and “The Sibley Guide to Birds” by David Allen Sibley, are also worth checking out.
