Question by : What species of birds go through the biggest plumage changes?
Im making a dress with a ‘transformation’ theme and I want to base it on a bird that has a beautiful plumage and colours. I want the transformation to be like how some birds have a summer plumage and a winter plumage, or they change as they mature into adults. I would like to know which birds change their plumage in the most drastic, colourful, fluffy/volumous ways

Im only relating to birds Ive seen and have verified on my life list with witnesses, the Rock Ptarmigan we seen up Northern Canada goes from looking like rocks to looking like snow. Pretty cool bird.
Lower down in the states here, one of most striking small passerines Ive seen are Painted Buntings. The transformation a male juvenile makes into adulthood is stunning as colors go. But it only happens once in its life. That Ptarmigan up there molts annually for its lifetime in that manner.
