Extinct Birds If prehistoric birds existed with the dinosaurs then why do they say that the birds evolved from dinosaurs?

Question by Birdo: If prehistoric birds existed with the dinosaurs then why do they say that the birds evolved from dinosaurs?
This is what I read:

“All non-neornithean birds became extinct, including flourishing groups like enantiornithines and hesperornithiforms in K–T extinction event. Several analyses of bird fossils show divergence of species prior to the K–T boundary, and that duck, chicken and ratite bird relatives coexisted with non-avian dinosaurs (T-Rex)”.

So this makes the modern birds descendants of prehistoric birds who lived with dinosaurs, right?

Also, ducks and chickens lived with a T-Rex? I never knew that.

Dinosaurs existed for 165 million years. The split was quite a bit before the K-T extinction.
