Parakeets For Sale What's the difference between parakeets and budgies?

Question by veggiegirl12: What’s the difference between parakeets and budgies?
Ok, I thought they were the same thing, only in America they are called parakeets while to the rest of the world they’re budgies. But then I saw this?:
“I have 2 birds for sale. The male is a parakeet, but the female is a true budgie. She is about 1/3 bigger than the male”
So budgies are bigger? are there any other differences thanks for answers

Parakeets and Budgies are actually two different name
for one bird species. In the USA the name parakeet is more common
for the type of bird you have. Maybe the female is older, or either that she
has different sets of genes that makes her grow faster.
