Bird Houses Q&A: How do you get a bird to move into a bird house?

Question by Whoops, is this your spleeen?: How do you get a bird to move into a bird house?
There’s a bird that each night wedges itself under the eves of our garage and sticks its head into a hole! So all you see is the back of the bird with no head! So, we put a small bird house a few feet away but he’s not going in it. Is there some way we can entice him to move into a decent home?

It might be just be the that that type of bird likes sleeping in a certain kind a place- and your birdhouse just isn’t the right shape, size, etc…. You could always try moving it up higher though or just leave it alone for a while- the bird might still smell you on it.
