Question by Prof. James Moriarty: How to kill a RAT getting in to my bird feeder station?
My bird feeder is enclosed by a steel cage to keep out pigeons (at my neighbors request) I have heavy mesh over a foot high surrounding the base.and including the bottom. The roof has mesh and the square top of an outdoor plastic table as it’s roof, It’s on a hill in my yard and attached to a fence. It looks like a caged telephone booth with a bird feeder hanging in its middle.
The squirrels and chipmunks still get in through the upper portion with spacing they can squeeze through..( I don’t mind this but they create a “Mad Max” like ruckus in there sometimes when “2 goes in but 1 has to come out”…)
A Rat or rats have come in now…How do I kill them without killing squirrels , chipmunks or some other innocent bystanders?
