Question by manetna2: Trying to find a list of birds that make nests on the ground.?
Found a twig nest beside a fence post thats about 6 inches in diameter, and 3 inches high. Was made there didn’t fall from tree.

Not knowing where you are located, I don’t know what species built that nest. I’m a little better than an amateur birder, but even an expert will need to know what geographic zone you live, what part of the country, possibly altitude, and what kind of ecological zone you found the nest (mountains, seaside, prairie, desert?). A local birding group should be able to help – who knows your area better than the locals? The American Birding Asso. has groups all over the U.S. If you can take a picture, this will help. Also, the American Ornithologists Assn. (I think that’s the name) may be able to help – if not to tell you which species made the nest, then where to find a local authority. Good Luck! S.
