Usually my birds are under the sun for about 6-9 hours.
Is it bad?

If you can smell roast chicken then yes 
Make sure they have a shady area if they want to use it and they should be fine. They would live in the sun in the wild but too much is bad. All animals need shade when they are too hot ot risk sun stroke just as you would.
