Question by : Is it wise to adopt a parrot?
Just wondering. I’ve had cockatiels and parakeets all my life and I wanted to move on to another larger bird. I was considering adopting a conure but then I haven’t found any to adopt but I have found many electus parrots, cockatoos, grey african greys and amazons for sale for actually cheaper than the conure plus they come with the cage. I was thinking if i was going to spend that much on a bird i would want a big bird. BTW money is not an issue so please don’t tell me parrots are too expensive. I just need to know if it’s a stupid choice. And I would like answers from experienced parrot owners for the cockatoo, amazon eclectus, and then somothers that were for adoption. I will do plenty of research before i even consider adopting one of them but what would be a good beginner parrot owner. And i don’t want any answers about you aren’t experienced enough. And what’s the smallest parrot you can get? I know there is the conure but i want a little bit bigger than a conure.

I’m just saying that it isn’t exactly the best idea. Parrots need attention 24/7 and if you don’t give them enough, they pluck their feathers out. They need to be entertained with a LOT of toys because they are so intelligent. If you really want one, you should get 2, so they can keep each other entertained. But, once you get a parrot, be ready for some headaches, because they talk and if they don’t talk, they squawk. Really loud. After you get a parrot, it’s your responsibility to take good care. They can live very long! Hope this helped!
