Question by : How do you prevent raccoons from raiding your birdfeeder?
I have a birdfeeder on a tall shepherd’s crook since we don’t have any trees in our backyard. There is a shallow stretch of woods behind our yard. Last night a raccoon climbed the pole and ate half the contents of the feeder. How can I get rid of this pest?

Live trap it…shoot it…or feed it. Raccoons here won’t eat bird seed, just play in it. They normally eat bugs, frogs. But if you are sure it was a raccoon and not squirrels, then those would be your only options. If you live trap it..keep in mind it could be a nursing mother..check before you take it for a ride to another location. If you want to feed it..they love cat food, and grapes.
