Question by Alli: What are a few finches that would get along well in an aviary?
They would be in a large aviary that used to house about ten java sparrows. I could comfortable fit seven or eight pairs of finches, possibly more depending on the species. So, what are some finches that aren’t too generic(like zebra finches) but that aren’t difficult to care for( such as gouldian finches) that would all get along in an aviary?

Just about any of the finch species would work. It would depend on the wire size of the aviary for some of the smaller birds. Also, is it inside or outside and where are you located – hot summers cold winters etc. You say you could fit 7 – 8 pairs of birds – how large is the aviary? Do you want only finches? I like to keep a pair of button quail (aka chines painted quail) in my aviary as they are good at keeping the bugs under control. If your aviary is good sized, you could also keep a pair of diamond doves in with the finches.
Here are some of the finch species that are available…
zebra
society
mannikin
nun
owl finch
fire finch
java rice
shaft tail finch
green singing finch
star finch
gouldian finch (or lady gouldian finch)
spice finch
cutthroat finch
grassfinch
grossbeak
