Sundays are a hybrid, meaning a cross between a Sun conure and a Jenday. They are by definition a mutt bird and ethical breeders should not be crossing these birds and muddying up the gene pool. With the passing of CITES in 1992 the importation of most birds into the U.S. was banned so we are working with a very limited gene pool and every time a breeder hybridizes two birds that brings us just a bit closer to no longer having pure Sun Conures or pure Jendays for future generations to enjoy.
