There are a few serious diseases that can be transmitted from parrots to people. Here are some websites that list them and gives descriptions:

Unless your parrot spends a lot of time outside (where the mosquitos are), chances are slim that your bird will contract anything very serious. Occasional sneezes don’t necessarily indicate disease. They have to clear the fluff and dust that gets into their nares (nostrils) during preening.
