Question by δгεαмεг δ¡şεαşε has the blues: quiet pet birds?
My mom really wants a bird. I keep telling her not to get one. Most are very noisy, and most of the breeds that arent noisy dont make good pets. So if i can’t convince her not to get a bird, whats a bird that
-isnt too noisy (especially early in the morning)
-NEVER yells
-isnt expensive
-is friendly
-makes a good pet
-won’t bite people
-can have it’s wings clipped
-and doesnt have to be kept in a cage all the time
thanks, I wish she’d just get a cat instead
c. l, you’re insane. I’m listing the good qualities of birds that would potentially make good pets. What makes you think my mom would want a bird screeching at sunrise every morning like nails on a chalkboard? do you think she wants one that isnt friendly and will bite people a lot and is expensive and would make a lousy pet?
i’m just doing my mom a favor by helping her realize that she wouldnt be fully happy with a bird and if she still decides to get one, i want to make sure its the type of bird she’d be happiest with. Also, all house cats naturally make good pets. They are quiet, clean, low maintenance, friendly, cheap (usually free), playful, and cute amoung other things. We have a cat already and my mom thinks he’s a great pet, so i just said if she wants another pet, she should get another cat since shes so happy with the one we have now.

NO bird is quiet, they all make noise, thats just what they do. they are also very messy, yep they shoot seeds and parrots can shoot poop. Any pet can be expenisve, vert bills on a bird can be quite high, and alot of vets are not qualified to deal with birds. Some do but not many. All birds can also bite, all can have thier wings clipped and this is advisable so they cannot fly, and b) for parrots it tends to lower their diposition and the need to be boss.
No bird needs or should be kept in its cage all day, finches and canaries usually are simply b/c they are flighty and small.
What do you think? Answer below!
