Question by Emily: Italicizing in essay?
Hello,
I’m writing an essay that includes an analysis of multiple versions of the same fairy tale.
If I’m writing “These versions of Snow White…..” do I italicize Snow White? I know I’d italicize the titles of each version, but I’m not sure if just “Snow White” itself would be considered a title in this sentence.
Thanks for your help!
Froggy:
“Can you give a good grammatical reason to italicise any title?”
In any formal MLA essay, you italicize or underline titles. Its a general rule of it, you’re not supposed to only italicize to emphasize, but you also italicize or underline titles… Should have specified MLA, I don’t know if it’s different for other styles of essays.
I’m just still unsure if Snow White in this context is considered a title as well.

I’m pretty sure you italicize it, since it is a title
