Bird Feeders No birds on bird feeder?

Question by Jamie: No birds on bird feeder?
I recently put up a bird feeder in my back garden at the back by the trees (my garden is big) and there seems to be a few birds visiting every now and then but i had some of my trees cut down recently and I can see that next door have hundreds of birds in their garden but I want to know why I am getting so little birds and they are getting hundreds
It annoys me :(

There are probably many reasons.

One is the birds already know the other location is safe and has food.

One could be that they’re buying higher quality bird seed than you are, with more sunflower and niger seeds.

Another might be that earlier in the season, birds nested nearer their feeder than yours. Are you going to go to the Applebee’s across town, or the one down the street?

One could be that there’s no cover where they can elude predators close enough to your feeder, especially since you had those trees cut down.

Or maybe the activity level in your yard, the tree removal especially, makes them wary.

Possibly there are predatory birds, cats, foxes, etc. in the area around your feeder sometimes.

Maybe your feed has gotten moldly inside the feeder. This happens when it’s rained a lot, or just from moisture in the air, and the birds stop eating from the feeder until you empty it, clean it, and refill it.

I recommend you keep the feeder half-full or more. They’ll find it eventually.

What do you think? Answer below!
