Question by Jessica W: How do I properly dispose of a dead hummingbird?
A hummingbird flew into our garage yesterday and we, being good people, kept the garage door open about 3 or 4 feet. However, it refused to fly out and this morning I went into the garage and told my parents that I’m pretty sure that hummingbirds don’t sleep upside down. It’s currently in that state hanging from one of our cords on the ceiling. Any advice?

I also agree, I dont think they sleep upside down. The only animals with wings that do that are bats, if I am correct.
I also have had a dead hummingbird on my hands, long story. What I did (wasnt very smart by the way) was I put it in a shoebox and buried it in the backyard. Lucky for me, no cats lived around my neighborhood, but I dont know about yours.
I suggest you call your local Humane Society. They usually have a line on the phone service that says something about disposing of a dead animal. They should pick it up at your house. I dont know if it costs money, but it probably wont.
