Cockatiels How to clean cockatiel cage with parents abandoning their babies?

Question by Just me: How to clean cockatiel cage with parents abandoning their babies?
Hi,

Well to start off, every time my cockatiels had babies and I cleaned their cage, they would abandoned their eggs or babies. I didn’t want them to have babies but I didn’t want to kill the eggs/babies.

The smell is so bad. I hate how it makes my whole room smell. They didn’t have their babies in a nesting box as they were laying them at the bottom of the cage. I just put a shoe box without the lid.

Thanks.

Cockatiels do not smell.
Unless you are talking about the nest?
If it is the Tiels maybe you should look at their diet. But more than likely one of them is sick in some way, that is the only time their poohs smell.
I have always found that I can take the babies out of the nest and play with them while cleaning out the nest box and even had Max & Cindy feeding their young on my shoulders.
If you do not have a good relationship with them and you do not want to stop the eggs from developing.
You should leave them alone.
But maybe you should egg dummy eggs and replace any eggs they lay
Or are you saying they abandon the eggs, not babies that are laid on the floor of the cage?
